Intracardiac Echocardiogram

Your electrophysiologist may decide to facilitate and guide complex ablation with an intra cardiac echocardiogram. A tiny catheter is inserted into the vein of the leg and advanced to the right upper chamber (right atrium). This Echo probe is then utilized to obtain excellent images of the heart in real time. These pictures provide real time monitoring of the cardiac anatomy, catheter positions and ablation process. These images may be valuable in avoiding complication related to catheter positioning and ablation process. This highly sophisticated tool is most commonly used to enhance the safety and accuracy of complex catheter ablation procedures like ablation of atrial fibrillation.
